Preserving your memories. Protecting your legacy.
There’s something special about holding an old photograph in your hands—the stories, the people, the moments frozen in time. But as the years pass, those memories can fade, become damaged, or even be lost.
That’s where Southern Maryland Archives comes in.
I specialize in the careful digitization and restoration of photographs, negatives, and slides, helping families preserve their history for generations to come. Every image I handle is treated with intention and respect—because these aren’t just photos… they’re your story.
Whether it’s a box tucked away in the attic or albums passed down through generations, I transform your memories into high-quality digital files that are safe, organized, and easy to share with your family.
Beyond scanning, I also offer professional photo restoration, bringing new life to faded, damaged, or timeworn images—so the people and moments you love can be seen again, clearly.

My parents recently moved into an assisted living community and as part of that process, we wanted to make sure we could permanently preserve the pictures my mother had accumulated throughout her life. My mother was a huge fan of pictures and had them stored in various albums, picture books, storage boxes, and frames. I knew that it would be an enormous task and dreaded the thought of trying to digitize them on my own, especially without the proper tools to do so. I was introduced to Kristie and learned of her tremendous love for photography and her business which performs this overwhelming chore. Kristie’s passion for photography and understanding of the deep meaning of family photos was immediately evident.
When gathering the photos, I had no idea how many there were, although I knew there were more than I wanted to tackle. Kristie took the photos to her shop and began the process of digitizing them. It is important to point out that a sizable portion of the photos were more than 50 years old and not only were the pictures delicate, but the albums they were in were as well. She painstakingly removed the pictures, digitized them, and returned them to their original albums, all while maintaining the integrity of the albums. Additionally, some of the older images needed some restoration/touch up, and she did this as well!
More than 80 hours later, she had digitized a total of 7,340 photos! She provided the photos on an external hard drive and with access to cloud storage. Knowing how much these photos mean, especially to my mother, I decided to purchase a thirty-two” screen Smart TV and link the photos so my mother could have them cycle on a regular basis. My mother’s birthday and Mother’s Day are within days of one another, and I cannot wait to give it to her. I am incredibly confident it will be the best gift ever!
In summary, I am so grateful to Kristie and the work she did on these precious photos. My next project is to give Kristie the photos my late wife took over the past 30 years and digitize them as well. I have all the confidence Kristie will do just as good a job with them as well.
